Imperious Hens In The Shade

by Jon Katz

Our Imperious hens consider themselves trivial human concerns like heat. But I see they are seeking some shade. Usually, in the mornings, they hold their morning meeting on or around Maria’s Fiber Chair on the back porch.

Today (it is already awful hot) they held their planning session in the shade of a lilac tree. I like to think they are talking bugs and tics and the best spots for finding them in 100 degree heat.

  1. Just thinking your confidence o November voters may not carry over from Kansas. Voters in Kansas rejected a state constitutional amendment Tuesday that would have said there was no right to an abortion in the state whereas most ballots will not be a yes/no on a law (like it was in Ireland) but it will be for a Republican or Democrat person thus muddying the issues.

    1. I have no crystal ball, Donna, we don’t know what will happen, one way or the other. I live in the now.
