The Leica 2 Gets Its Turn, It’s Own Short Flower Show

by Jon Katz

I use two cameras for my flower photos. For the close-ups, I use the  Iphone; for my atmosphere shots, I use the Leica 2. Two very different cameras help me capture and see flowers in two completely different ways.

The Iphone 13 is great for zooming in and getting to the photo’s heart.

The Leica 2 takes a softer picture and brings out colors in greater depth and with greater emotion.

The Leica 2 captured the feeling and the detail of this begonia bush. It captures the feeling of the bush and its depth.

I’ve gotten some great Zinnia photos with the Iphone, but to get the Zinnia at the heart of my environment, I use the Leica 2. I get the sense of the bed, not just one flower in. I love the gentleness of the Leica, a sharp contrast to the sharp and literal eye of the Iphone. Leica’s pictures remind me of film.

It was a pleasant surprise to see a Red Begonia popping up in the shade of the bed. It looked right at home, and I’m excited to see more of these beautiful flowers. I’m getting a bunch for next year.
