Meditation Dogs, By The Fire. They Know How To Do It…

by Jon Katz

Bud and Zinnia have meditated with me in the morning for weeks, but today is the first time Fate decided to join. She is usually with Maria in the morning or out pretending to herd sheep. The dogs have become an important part of my daily meditation time.

They know how to do it, and they keep me rested and at ease.

  1. Love it! I believe that we are like a thermostat, we set it for comfort. In my opinion; I think people, animals, flowers, etc. can feel that energy. You and Marie give out that energy that makes it a peaceful, safe and loving as well as disciplined home. The results you get are amazing. My husband built a flat bird feeder (like a tray). We are visited by many birds. There is a dove and gold finch that visit routinely, they eat together and then they just sit and meditate. It is surprising because no other birds visit at that time. Sometimes they both fall asleep, too! It makes me happy that they feel comfortable and safe. We also have some birds we call quality control supervisors, whereas, they look in the window and will stare when the feeder needs to be filled. If we don’t get to it right away, they tap on the glass. They especially visit when we eat. The colors of some are just gorgeous. Isn’t nature beautiful; I feel so blessed. There is a show on Netflix you might have watched, Somebody Feed Phil, he samples different cuisines but he gives history about the state/country he is visiting. There is a cafe in Vietnam where the older men bring their bird/s in a cage and hang them by other birds so that the birds learn a new song! It reminds me of Stanley Tucci’s show on CNN, but he mainly focuses on the Italian regions. Some background on Phil Rosenthal is he was a writer and producer for Everyone Loves Raymond sitcom. Well, writing a novel here. Thanks for sharing. Love your animals, oh yes, you and Maria too!

  2. Has Zinnia finally laid claim to the big bed you got for her? I seem to recall that Fate was camping out in it.
