The Mansion: Every Week, “Brush To Canvas:” They Need Some Canvases For Christmas

by Jon Katz

Every day, every week from her to Christmas, “we shall put brush to canvas,” says Mansion Activity Director Paryese Bates Becker.

The  residents love painting; Paryese says, “that is the hot activity now.”

I’ve sent Paryese a bunch of 18-24 canvases, but they are going fast and need more. They also need  10 x 17 canvases or something close to it. I’ve sent a bunch, but I am running out of funds.

Please consider helping the residents paint their way to Christmas by going to Amazon or your local paint shop and sending some canvases to Bonnie or Paryese, The Mansion, 11 South Union Avenue, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.

The residents love painting; it lifts them and excites them about Christmas. They paint a lot for sons, daughters, and grandchildren and use the paintings as gifts.

If you have any old or unused small canvases, please think about sending them.

Their paintings also hang on the Mansion walls and in the Great Room for Christmas day.

This can be challenging for the Mansion residents; painting seems to give the holiday meaning and create some happiness.

If you have any canvases lying around, that would also be great. We can be flexible on the canvas sizes, not too small, not too big.

I’m still working on my ukulele to sing Christmas music at the Mansion Christmas Morning. Thanks for helping, if you can. The Mansion keeps reminding me what Christmas is really about.

Not what I get, but what I give.

I’m holding my meditation class there on Friday this week.

You can check out the canvases on Amazon here: The shipping address is Bonnie or Paryese, The Mansion, 11 S.Union Avenue, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.

Thank you so much.
