Attention Army Of Good: A Bishop Maginn Student Mother Needs Help With Baby Clothes

by Jon Katz

Sue Silverstein of Bishop Gibbons contacted me this afternoon asking for help in clothing the 24-month-old baby of a former Bishop Maginn student – one I have written about. The mother, a Bishop Maginn graduate,  has two jobs and struggles to pay for clothes. Sue says she was one of her best students.

I’m calling the girl Baby J.

(Note the baby is not 24 months old; she’s younger. 24 months is a size for infants and the right size for her. T sizes are for toddlers.)

Sue asks that anyone with used or discarded baby clothes lend a hand. Sending used or discarded clothing is okay as long as they are in good shape and clean. It’s also OK to buy new baby clothes if you prefer.

The mother needs just about everything: sleepers, socks, coats, dresses, mittens, hats, boots, sweatsuits, onesies (undershirts), and sweaters.

If you can help Baby J, please send these clothing donations to Sue Silverstein, Art Program, Bishop Gibbons High School, 2600 Albany Street, Schenectady, N.Y., 12304. Sue says she will get them to Baby J.

    1. Gail, thanks so much I think I’d wait a bit. I expect a lot of stuff will be coming in the mail in the next day or two and I don’t want to take your money unless it’s necessary. I’ll let you know if I need more help and thank you, Jon

  1. I will send Sue a check as the student I was mentoring did not return to Bishop Gibbons last Sept.

    1. Thanks Marcia, I’d wait a bit as I expect a lot of clothes arriving. Handling the money directly can get complicated for Sue.

      1. I don’t Laurie, 24 months is all the information I have..Sue says that’s all the information they have..I’ll ask again

The months sizes are for infants, the T sizes are for toddlers…24 months is a size for infants, I checked on Amazon and elsewhere

      2. Sue says young infants’ clothes are sold in that way. 24 months is a size on Amazon and elsewhere (I checked) next size after that is 2T The month’s sizes are infants, and the T sizes are toddlers.

        1. Please Note: The baby is younger than 24 months, 24 months is a size for infants. so 24 months IS the size. Toddlers have different sizes. thanks, Jon

  2. We have to know what size the baby is, I can’t think of anything more fun than buying baby clothes. If she still needs clothes in the next couple of days could you please find that out? Thanks!!!!
