Bracing For A Brutal Cold Wave

by Jon Katz

It’s 7 degrees at the moment, the weather service has just issues a windchill watch for Friday and Saturday. “Dangerously cold wind chills possible, wind chills as low as 30 to 45 degrees below zero.”

Well, I’m chilly already.  That got my attention. We will do everything we can to keep ourselves, our dogs, and the sheep and donkeys safe and sheltered. The hens will stay in their rooms locked up; we’ll give the donkeys and sheep second-cut hay and some grain.

I have a feeling this will bring warming, which would be welcome. This will be hardest on Bud; we’ll keep a close eye on him and keep him out of the cold. Boston Terriers were not built for this kind of cold. I think we’ll even have to keep Fate inside. Zinnia will be fine.

I’m off to Saratoga to see the Periodontist. More later.
