Here We Go. The Cold Front Is Here

by Jon Katz

The first arctic winds arrived this afternoon, just as we set the hay out for Maria. I stayed out as long as I could to help, but had to retreat after 20 minutes or so. We have a sick sheep in a stall in the barn, we’ll be checking up on her. I’ll be blogging etc unless the power goes out. Stay warm, wherever you are..

  1. Jon, we are experiencing a polar vortex, here in Southern Ontario and no doubt what you’re experiencing as well. These vortexes exist around the North and South Pole, so I expect you can say Canada is sending the freezing temps your way, I’ll be watching the dogs paws tomorrow, it’s supposed to go down below zero Fahrenheit. We’re Celsius here in Canada but the present Prime Minister’s Father Pierre Trudeau, PM years ago…didn’t ‘consult’ me about this change, so I said p*** on him, and I”m still Fahrenheit…(all said tongue in cheek). The changeover sure messed up flying I can tell you, ground crew couldn’t make the conversions, one jet, no passengers, flight crew only, ran out of gas, that was called the Gimley Glider…but that’s a whole other story for Air Canada….I just happened to hear the inside track due to employment…anyway, hunker down, it won’t last long. There’s no wind so maybe the power won’t go out. Sandy Proudfoot, S. Ontario, Canada

  2. The weather through Sunday noon is going to be a doozie! I can see Mt Washington, NH from my back yard and the meteorologists at the summit are expecting record breaking temperatures and wind. Stay warm and stay safe!

    1. Wow…how amazing your view must be! I’m in CT, but we’re always hearing about the crazy weather conditions at the summit of Mt. Washington! Stay safe and warm yourself!
