Coming Home, A Long, Wonderful Day At Bishop Gibbons. A Lot Of Photos To Sort Through

by Jon Katz

I had a beautiful time at Bishop Gibbons today, talking with shell-chocked Folasade, who is going to college this Fall, and meeting some of the other amazing artists in Sue Silverstein’s brilliant and exciting art program.

It was a long, chaotic, and memorable day, and it’s too late, and I’m too tired to recount all of it tonight. I’ll post my talk with Flosada over the weekend and put up a few pictures of some of the remarkable artists and their work tonight.

Sue has done a stunning job creating an art program that allows the students to use their own culture and experiences and learn about other artists. The energy and creativity in that classroom is mind-blowing.

I was happy to get home and looking forward to a quiet weekend. The weather is supposed to be good, and I’m considering putting another flower or two in my raised garden bed. I’m hungry for flower pictures.

Then I’ll go to bed. The farm was gorgeous on our return, Spring is a soft time, and the farm is a soft and lovely place. I sometimes forget how fortunate we are to live here. It is a simple farm on 17 acres, but it is a kind of paradise for us.

Sheep grazing in the North pasture opened for the summer season. The grass is shooting up.

The leaves on the apple tree have changed our landscape. Tomorrow I’ll be sitting in those chairs reading in the afternoon.
