Photo Journal, Friday, September 22, 2023. Flowers, Bird Baths, The Art Of Moulting Hens

by Jon Katz

I’m closing the work day with photos I took around the farm today. Zip, our new barn cat, finally came out of the barn today and walked around with us as we showed him the apple tree and some flowers. I got some neat photos, but I’ll put them up in the morning.

I worked long and hard today, and I’m tired. It was a good day; I was only exhausted for an hour or two.

Tonight, Maria and I are planning our return to the bed upstairs. I think I’m ready. I must ensure my head is up, or I’ll get dizzy. And I’ll wake Maria up if I have to use the stairs, although my head is slowly but surely clearing up. The stairs seem to be no problem. Soon, our composting toilet will be in operation upstairs.

I got my car out of the shop and am happy to have it back, although it’s probably $1,000 for new brakes. It’s a fair price from an honest mechanic.

Foot surgery on Monday morning. Back to the surgical boot for a week.

I liked the mix of today’s journal – Zip, flowers, a bird bath, and some touching hen photos. They were pressed up against the front door, shedding feathers everywhere. See you in the morning. Sleep well and safely.

Small flowers, bright colors

Zip followed us out of the barn for the first time this evening. We gave him a tour—photos to come in the morning.
