Imagination And Art! A Bishop Gibbons High School Senior And Art Student Imagines A Depleted Ocean In Sue Silverstein’s Art World. Discarded Objects, From You

by Jon Katz

Sue Silverstein’s art classes use donated wood and other discarded objects from the Army Of Good to make sculptures that reflect their feelings and lives. Sue is thrilled with the results; she just sent me this sculpture from Senior Milana. It was made – as all of the sculptures are – from discarded objects lying around the house and sent to Sue – Sue Silverstein, Bishop Gibbons High School, Schenectady, New York, 12304.

Check out your basement attics and boxes in garages. Sue and her cranked-up students will turn it into art if you can send it. Good work, Milana. Sue calls this Socially Conscious Sculpture that sends a clear message. If you like it, please send some of your discarded objects – wood, jewelry, old clothes, abandoned toys – to Bishop Gibbons. They will make art from it.

And thanks, Pat, for donating a vacuum clear (much used) to Sue’s art program, and for driving it there to deliver it yourself. You’re getting a free pass to my “good person” club.
