Life Of A Lab

by Jon Katz

This image may be familiar to anyone who has lived with a Lab. I won’t spoil anyone’s dinner by saying what she was chewing on, but it was in a manure-filled pasture. Enuf said Maria caught this charming picture of a happy Labrador. She tried to lick me when I got home, but I passed. Later, I said. She looked disappointed.

They really will eat anything.

  1. I once had a Husky mix who ate something he found on a walk, threw it up, sniffed it, and then ate his vomit. Must be a dog thing, since I’ve never seen a cat do that! Of course dogs are omnivores LOL.

  2. You may already know this, or not. Dogs have an enzyme in their mouths that digests poop, which must be why so many dogs love to eat it. My Minature Schauzer loves to eat his sister’s poop just as she’s dropping it. It disgusts me too which is why I discouraged him from licking me when he was a puppy.
Zinnia sure looks like she enjoyed her treat!
