Rescued Just In Time Again! Thanks. Today, $1, $2, $3 Dignity Food Items: V8 Splash, Lemonade, And Cranberry Juice

by Jon Katz

It was a close call for the very proud food pantry in Cambridge, N.Y.

“Lots of items from the Army of Good showed up yesterday,” said Sarah, “just in time! We put them directly on the  store shelves, and it’s a good thing; we had a busy day.”

________

A young single mother, a pantry customer for one year, emailed me (she asked that her name be withheld) to express her gratitude for your support and how much it means to her and her two children. “I’m not a word person,” she said, “but I told our pastor that this Army of Good is a flock of angels coming down from heaven to help us. Without you, we often feel alone.”

_______________

Yesterday was a hand-wringer at the food pantry. The Regional Food Bank provided 40 fewer boxes of food than expected. There was no warning.

The volunteers said it was chaos until the Amazon truck arrived and the Amy of Good donations gave them enough to fill the shelves just minutes before the customers arrived. They were opening the boxes and rushing them to the shelves.  I can’t thank you enough for that. I’ve put up photos here of your donations to the shelters now. There aren’t enough thanks to offer you to capture our hearts.

You can see the Cambridge Pantry Amazon Food Wish List any time, either by clicking on any link here or by clicking on the green buttons at the bottom of every blog post.

Every item on the wish list is urgent now, as the pantry currently has no budget for purchasing some canned goods. The regional food bank offers what it can. (The pantry has to pay for what they ask for, and accept what the bank sends.)

If you have an extra few dollars to spare and want to do some good, review the list and consider sending any item you wish.  If you don’t, we understand, and thanks anyway for caring.

Your food donations will support a worthy and meaningful cause -hunger.

Today, hearty and healthy meals, two of the three incidentals, are $2 at Dignity Special Foods.

Thanks so much for supporting the Cambridge Food Pantry; you are making an enormous difference. Thank you.

You put canned vegetables back on the shelf (above) and provide the foods that give the families genuine hope. These vegetable cans are essential for the health of these families.

Thanks for the condiments; they came just in time, at the nick of time.
