I asked Maria this morning why she thought the Pastoral morning photos had become so important to me and others. She said that because I came up here in the first place to be closer to nature, and now I finally was, and I should see it in my photographs every day. By now, she knows me better than I know myself. I think she is right.

The orphaned poppy that blew to the concrete steps.
The photographer
The wandering poppy with a will, from Raised Bed to back porch cement.
This is my morning sun meeter, when the apple tree in the back pasture starts to glow.
I never know what Maria is photographing, and I never ask. She doesn’t ask me either.
And then, Zip appears out of nowhere to walk with the gang.

I have loved all your photos for a couple of decades, especially your black and whites. But I have to say, your pastoral captures have become my life-blood. They remind me every day that Nature’s beauty just quietly exists, no matter the ugliness and divisiveness that’s going on. The beauty just quietly sits in little pockets, being itself, waiting for us to turn to it and embrace its calm, soft aura.
Please keep them coming. We are all hurting and need to be shown what to look for.
Thank you Suzanne this means a great deal to me it feels like I am at long last doing what I am meant to do.
