Today, the hearts of flowers. I always look for the heart of the flower. It’s always there if I look long enough. I’m learning that if I don’t take at least one day off, I’ll come apart at the seams. My concession to age is to try to do that, and every Sunday, I make an effort to do it. Tomorrow, Maria and I plan to head out to Columbia County (an hour and a half each way) to see a special showing of the Gee’s Bend Quiltmakers, a significant inspiration for Maria. That will take most of the day. Not exactly resting, but close. I might get back for some flower photos, or maybe not. We’ll see. If I can’t, I’ll see you on Monday morning, and I hope you have the nicest possible Sunday. I also hope you see the hearts of the flowers below.
P.S. The Quilt in the chair is a Gee’s Bend quilt that Maria purchased when she went to Alabama to meet the quilters and study their work, which greatly influenced hers. The Gee’s Bend quilts, first made by poor weavers in Alabama, are internationally famous now.
My assistant, a sucker for beautiful women and a traitor, abandoned me today. I knew where to find him.
