Photo Journal. Beautiful Christmas Afternoon. Storm Coming. Little Jeckyll And Hyde Arrive.

by Jon Katz

Above, my Christmas present, I call them Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, two more muses for my office.

_______

I had a wonderful Christmas Day with Maria; we just hung around together, visited the animals, talked, slept, and read. It was, in so many ways, the nicest Christmas either of us can remember—just us.

Picture above. I saw these two heads at a local Artisan’s shop and fell in love with them. I don’t know what the original purpose was, but they are going to make two wonderful muses for my inspiration and ideas. I named them Jeckyll and Hyde.

Maria bought them for me, and we exchanged gifts. I’ll let her talk about the ones she got if she wishes. She says she’s going to get me a third muse to go along with these two. They are going right into my study, see photo below.

This afternoon, the temperature is plunging; tonight will be one of the coldest nights all year. A heavy snow and ice storm is creeping east. God bless Spring. See you in the morning. I hope you had a peaceful and meaningful holiday. Keep the faith.

Wall Hanging. Georgia O’Keeffe’s famous Calla Lilies. I loved them from the beginning, but her paintings of them lit me on fire as a flower photographer. The Calla remains my favorite. The sun lit it up this afternoon.

________

One of my favorite winter trees. Tree for the day.

Fate intruded when the huge limb fell off all around this concrete urn. It took St. Jo and broke him in half. I wondered if he hadn’t sacrificed himself for the urn.

  1. LOVE the new muses, Jon! A perfect addition to your writing space. There is something so beautiful about the fallen birch tree – birch trees seem so holy to me, and I don’t know why. I love creating “birch trees” with paint and twigs in my art pieces. I hope the east doesn’t get the terrible ice storm as predicted. Ice has always scared me but I love to be home in a snow storm. Stay safe and warm.

      1. Thanks Jon, you too. The Midwest isn’t predicted to get this ice, February is usually our worst month for storms. Right now, it’s 40 degrees, going up to 50. It won’t last, but I will take it!
