An afternoon with George Forss and Donna Wynbrandt

George and Donna

I’ve been itching all week to take another photo of  George Forss, the legendary photographer and artist Donna Wynbrandt. The two have been together and in love for years, and their love is a very beautiful thing to see. I want to tell their story but Donna says I have to get it right first, so I will.

George and Donna came to the farm this afternoon and we had lunch, yakked, took photos and then went over to the new farm so they could see it. George has been itching to take a photo of Rocky for weeks but Rocky has been hiding from him. Rocky knows how to hide. Rocky looks wonderful in his stall, alert and lively and more affectionate by the day. He loves the shade and shelter from flies and he clearly loves some attention as well. He is coming to life. Donna fed him some hay and George got his photos. I love George and Donna and Maria and I am in awe of George’s attitude, energy and genius. I am so lucky to be his friend and see him work. I have never been very successful making and keeping male friends. George is a keeper, I think. Apart from Maria, he is my closest friend. Come see his new blog.

We walked around the farm. Took photos of sheep and donkeys. Sat on the porch. I bought George’s book “Enos” – his study of aliens, philosophy, God and science – on my Kindle and I will read every page of it. (That would be about 800 pages.)  George talked about his settings and lenses and ideas on composition and about the detail he loves in his photos. Donna made us laugh and made a beautiful Sweet afternoon. Then we went over to the New Bedlam farm to see Rocky and the house.  Photo on Facebook.
