Red has a temporary (maybe permanent) assistant now when he goes out into the pasture to keep the sheep contained at their feeder and away from the donkeys.

I don’t know how long this will last, but Red now takes up position in front of Red. The sheep don’t seem to be noticing Bud much, but Red has trained them well, they don’t move much when he is sitting there.

I think Bud thinks he is keeping the sheep at bay, and I think he is doing this to help Red out. No more running for Red.

This is where the ego of the small dog comes in handy. Bud has no idea that he is small, or that he can’t do everything the other dogs can do. More and more, I accept the idea that he is protecting Red, Bud was very agitated when Red was hurting so badly.
