Gift Cards Today

by Jon Katz

I find it wonderful and amazing that the Price Chopper Gift Cards for the refugee students and their parents continue to come into Bedlam Farm, where they are instantly shipped out to Sue Silverstein in Albany where she immediately distributes them.

Another batch came today.

They are needed.

One mother of one of the Bishop Maginn High School students sent me this message: ”

Dear Mr. Katz, I cannot tell you how greatful we are for the gift cards to Price Chopper you sent to us. We have never asked for help before to feed our family, my husband and I have both lost our jobs cleaning hotel rooms, there are no people coming to the hotel. This weekend, for the first time in my life, I looked at my husband and started to cry about food. We had no food to feed our children, no money to buy more. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us. I am sorry to need this help. Thank you, it meant the whole world to us…”

The gift card program is urgent and important. You can buy gift cards in any amount here, but they must be sent to me at the farm: Jon Katz, 2502 State Route 22, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.

Package mail isn’t being delivered to Bishop Maginn right now, and gift cards can’t be sent to post office boxes.

These families have suffered a lifetime’s worth of misery. Many came to America after being driven from their homes and villages due to genocide, civil war, and religious hatred. They have lost everything and now, they are at risk of losing everything again.

We can’t help them with everything they need, but we can help them with food. So if you can, please keep the gift cards coming: Jon Katz, 2502 State Route 22, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816. And thank you.

You can buy them in any amount. Thanks.
