Robin’s Crusade Against The Ocean

by Jon Katz

Robin and her parents are on vacation for a few days somewhere along the New Jersey shore. Emma took yet another amazing picture of her daughter charging the beach with a stick.

Emma said Robin had found a pointy stick which she said was an “ancient sword” and she decided she would try to fight the ocean. I don’t think she’s going to be easily discouraged in life.

I haven’t heard the results of the battle. I wouldn’t be stunned if Robin won. Watch out, ocean.

Emma is one of the most creative people I have known in my adult life, she is gifted at many things but has a special gift for writing and an amazing eye for the backlighting and composition of photographs,

She’s really got the touch, I hope she will one day agree to let me go out and take photos with her. So far, she hasn’t.

I’m very excited to be seeing Robin in a few weeks. I’ve missed her quite a bit. I’m grateful to Emma for keeping Robin alive for me.

Every time she sends me a brilliant photo, I love Robin even more. Her mother too. Emma has mastered the real challenge of photography – to capture souls, not just take pictures.

  1. Beautfiul photo – I am so glad you have these heartfelt pictures of Robin to follow her days and interests. Kudos to your daughter for keeping you in the loop!

  2. The lighting in both the Amish carriage in the dusk and Robin conquering the beach are spot on. I love gazing at pictures like this. You know they are good because you look at them more than once. They are to be studied like a good piece of literature. Thanks for the beauty, that for not your sharing, I would never have seen.

  3. I love this photo! You & your daughter are both very talented photographers! I have enjoyed all the photos you post!
