Day 3: Moise Insulates The Shed

by Jon Katz

On the 3rd day of construction, Moise (I called him Moses)  Miller put some insulation sheets into the foodshed where baked goods and vegetables will be sold all year.

His daughter Delilah mans the food stand for most of the day.

She and Maria have become friends, they talk about fabrics and knitting and colors.

We dripped by today to drop some books off

Delilah says the kids in the family love the Boxcar Stories, as well as Hardy Boys and the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I got some Little House picture books for the younger children in the family. There are more than 100 Box Car books – we are going to have fun.

We bought a Blueberry pie and I bought a bracelet.

  1. Carolyn Ryrie Brink only wrote two books, “Caddy Woodlawn” and “Caddy Woodlawn’s Family” but I think they are head and shoulders over the Little House series.

Amazon has one used paperback at under $2.00 so they’re still being reprinted. https://www.amazon.com/Caddie-Woodlawn-Carol-Ryrie-Brink/dp/1416940286 There must be something in the Wisconsin water. Woodlawn only takes place in Wisconsin, and I think the first Little House is in Wisconsin also, not too far apart.
