Round Two: Black And White Photos, Bishop Maginn’s Fund-Raising For Ukraine

by Jon Katz

I put up some color photos of Bishop Maginn’s fund-raising afternoon for Ukraine on Friday, the morning was moving and powerful. Here’s another round, these photos in black and white. The school raised more than $400 for Ukraine relief.

The kids painted sunflowers in chalk on the sidewalks. The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine.

  1. I was happy to see that hugs were allowed at Bishop Maginn. During my last years of teaching we teachers were forbidden to hug students. So many of them needed friendly contact -a hug, a pat on the back—but we couldn’t do it. However every member of a particularly wonderful class came past me as they left on the last day of school and spontaneously reached out and hugged me. They left me almost in tears.
