Zip On The Wood Pile. He Just Finished Pouting

by Jon Katz

Zip was outraged yesterday when we tossed him into a crate and dragged him to the vet for his final shots. When we got home, he rushed to the woodshed where Flo used to live before we found her hiding there. Obviously, Zip has been exploring every inch and corner of the farm. I got a kick out of this pose when he stopped pouting and came down to eat. Zip is sensitive, but he does not hold a grudge.

I explained to him that he is free to pout as much as he likes, but it doesn’t do much good around here. We do what we have to do and hope for and expect the same thing from him. At least once a year, he goes to the vet for his health exam and his shots. I told him I had to do it, and he would have to do it.

After a few minutes of scratching my head, I came to a conclusion: Zip is a pragmatist. And no, he is not coming inside to help with the rats.  He is not coming inside at all.

    1. There were no rats in the barn…we would have seen them or noticed them…I suspect Minnie who spend some time in the basement, kept them out..

  1. In another country where I lived they spread cat hair ( brushed from cats) around the house so the scent was there. I claim my territory. The deal is- I live inside, creepy critters find their own place to live or die. Very straightforward.
