Back From The Prom

by Jon Katz

I just got back from the Bishop Maginn High School Prom a few minutes ago, it was beautiful and uplifting, a joyous end to a place of great meaning for my friend Sue Silverstein and so many others.

I stayed a couple of hours and got some wonderful photos, but my body did catch up with me and I was and am exhausted. I am getting better but not there yet.

And standing up and jumping up and down was not comfortable. It was a joy to be there.

I’ll put up some photos in the morning, sorry to keep anyone waiting. I’m so glad I went, and so, I think, were the kids.

I feel very close to many of them, and they to me, and I’ve learned in this work that what matters as much as anything is showing up. They always know when you show up, and they always know when you don’t.

On the way home, I saw this beautiful beef cow with her calves. I had to stop for that. Maria is very gracious about that.

Right now I need to sleep.

  4. ” what matters as much as anything is showing up. They always know when you show up, and they always know when you don’t.” There is nothing more true.
